BOATS ON THE RACE TRACK AS BASS PRO SHOPS® AND MNBA
ANNOUNCE SPONSORSHIP OF ATLANTA 500

AUG 19, 2003-TRACKER® Boats and NITRO® gain prominence as Bass Pro Shops continues to expand the number of its retail stores across North America and increases its involvement with NASCAR.

In this new development, Bass Pro Shops has teamed with MBNA America to sponsor the spring 2003 Winston Cup race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The two have now signed an agreement to co-sponsor the track's fall NASCAR Cup race for four years. The first race, know as the Bass Pro Shops/MBNA 500, was held October 24-26, 2003.

"We are thrilled to partner with MBNA," said Bass Pro Shops Founder Johnny Morris. "There is a great enthusiasm for NASCAR and a deep appreciation for the sport of racing from our associates and customers."

NASCAR fans can look forward to this yearly race being as entertaining and fun as Bass Pro Shops stores. The March race featured turkey calls, drivers being paraded around the track in NITRO bass boats, country music entertainment, and a unique largemouth bass winner's trophy. The October race featured another huge winner's trophy topped with a majestic eagle.

"The spring and fall race were a tremendous experience for all involved," said Ed Clark, President and General Manager of Atlanta Motor Speedway. "We're eager to work with both great partners to create memorable experiences for the fans and competitors over the next four years.

The Bass Pro Shops and MBNA logos were featured on the #18 Interstate Battery car driven by Bobby Labonte in the Cup race. Coincidentally, Labonte was the winner of the spring Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500, receiving a TRACKER Avalanche as part of his winnings.

During the Saturday NASCAR Busch Series event, fans saw the #8 Remington Bass Pro Shops car racing around the track. This one race sponsorship with DEI, Inc., featured driver Hank Parker, Jr..

MBNA featured the Bass Pro Shops logo on their black #18 car during NASCAR Busch Series races in Charlotte on October 10 and Homestead on November 15 of 2003.

Bass Pro Shops and TRACKER Boats started their association with NASCAR back in 1998 when they sponsored the #3 GM Goodwrench Service Plus Monte Carlo driven by Dale Earnhardt during the Winston Race at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte.

NASCAR departments can now be found in most Bass Pro Shops retail locations and NASCAR drivers and owners like Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Tony Stewart, Richard Childress, Ward Burton, Joe Gibbs, Robby Gordon have been featured in their catalogs and made personal appearances at store locations.

Since statistics show that 70% of NASCAR fans are avid anglers, many enjoy hunting and nearly every fan has a love of the outdoors, Bass Pro Shops and TRACKER Boats know their association with NASCAR is a winner!
